Solar-Powered Airplanes — New Possibilities of Space Industry of Ukraine

Abstract: Solar-powered airplanes is a new direction in the aircraft construction, which attracts attention both potential consumers and manufacturers. One of the basic systems of solarpowered airplanes is the system of power supply, which has architecture similar to that of applied in satellites. Its design, manufacturing and operation is well mastered by space industry of Ukraine. Differences in operating conditions of solar-powered airplanes and satellites make it possible to substantially reduce the cost of energy supply system and cost of airplane in general that promotes expanding customers’ range in aircraft and provides Ukrainian space industry with a new sales market.
